Nativity scene exhibition

The exhibition of paper nativity scenes presents a unique collection by Ján Hertlík of hand-cut and assembled scenes depicting the birth of Jesus Christ. Visitors can admire a diverse collection of historical, folk, and modern paper nativity scenes, distinguished by their rich colors, delicate drawings, and precise handcrafted work
What fascinates me about paper nativity scenes is the artistic craftsmanship of the old masters
Part of the exhibition is also the original work of the collector, who hand-cuts the nativity scenes, mounts them, and places them into landscape bases. Many of them are created as three-dimensional scenes that bring to life the biblical story of the birth of Jesus Christ.
The nativity scene has been a symbol of Christmas for centuries. The tradition of its depiction was established in 1223 by Saint Francis of Assisi. Nativity scenes spread to our region in the 16th century and gradually became an important part of folk culture and Christmas traditions.
